Good Omens Book Reveiw For AP English

The book Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett has definitely become one of my favorite books. The book is made of a semi-serious parody of many Anti-Christ Apocalypse movies and books, most obviously, The Omen David Seltzer. Good Omens follows the story of a demon, Crowely, and a slightly anal-retentive angel, Aziraphale who have both become rather accustomed to life on Earth, and are both starting to become a little upset at the thought of the earths impeding doom, via the Anti-Christ. Armed with the knowledge of who the Anti-Christ is (as Crowley was the one who switched him with his ‘parents’ original baby at birth) Aziraphale and Crowley decide to work together to influence the Anti-Christ as he grows up into becoming someone that wouldn’t just choose between good and evil, and therefore postpone the end of the world.
Pity no one tells them they got the wrong kid.
The book also includes appearances by the Four Motorcyclists of the Apocalypse, Agnes Nutter, a real seventeenth century witch, and a rather put off Metatron.

My thoughts of Good Omens are mostly positive, the book is both funny and has a smooth style of writing that makes it both easy and fun to read. Its' light atmosphere, but ability to still be able to deal with ‘serious’ issues, by taking them with a grain of salt, makes it easy for someone to read, regardless of personal faith (for the most part). I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys reading for fun, (it is a very long book) especially to fans of the movie Dogma.
